"Liam wisdom"

While making pancakes this morning:

Liam: Is that my plate?
Me: Yup.
Liam: I love syrup... and I love you.
Me: Hmmm, you must love syrup more than me because you said it first.
Liam: Well... no... (pause) I love syrup cause it's sweet. JUST. LIKE. YOU.

Little charmer.

While discussing the plight of widows and orphans in West Africa (yes, I'm serious):

Peter: There are a lot of widows AND orphans in Africa because so many parents and husbands have died in wars or from sickness.
Liam: Are there orphanages?
Peter: Some. But a lot of the orphans have to take care of themselves.
Liam: Are there widow-ages?

I really need to take the time to write down more of what he and Simon say. Simon's been coming up with some doozies lately!

Andrew, at 15 months, still staunchly refuses to say anything other than "ta ta", which he says when he's giving us something (usually something that he knows he shouldn't be playing with) or when we're handing him something. He won't even say "mama" or "dada", preferring to simply point and grunt. Everything is "gugh".

  1. Oh I'm so glad to see you blogging again! I've missed you so.

So cute, the things that our babies say. The syrup conversation was the best.

My husband came down the stairs after putting the babies to bed last night, and told me about the conversation that he had with our 3 year old, about the "Goonies Never Say Die" shirt that he was wearing. It involved both Jesus and Monsters, it was amazing.

Our little Charlie talks constantly. He sings songs, he has a wide vocabulary, hes... a genius? I can't wait until he can start forming sentances. I have a feeling he'll say really entertaining things about trains and diapers.

  2. Andrew looks very observant and I have a feeling he is storing up all his vocabulary to try out all at once. He may be one of the children who begin with phrases and sentences. He does have 4 people who understand him so well!!!! Love Liam's conversation!!! Hugs, Dianne

Love and miss them. I can hardly to hear what Andrew comes out with when he decides he needs to start talking. Love, Mora/Mom/Nana
