vous êtes invités

Simon decided he wants a knight party for his birthday this year. He and Liam are currently all Playmobil, all the time, so I decided to combine the two themes for his party invitation. I haven't yet decided what I'll do for games and decoration, if I'll do a pinata, and what I'll do for the cake.

3rd birthday invite (french)

Simon very firmly said he wants chocolate with strawberries, however after all the effort that went into Liam's cake, I'm not sure that a simple chocolate cake will do. Simon is, after all, a middle child.

And I know all too well the depths of middle child syndrome.

So to avoid the inevitable backlash of you-don't-love-me-because-I'll-I-got-was-a-simple-round-cake-with-strawberries-on-it-even-though-you-made-a-crazy-elaborate-AND-OBVIOUSLY-LOVE-FILLED-CAKE-for-my-older-and-BETTER-LOVED-brother, I will need to do something a bit more involved.

Any ideas?

P.S. Yes, I know it's in French. Most of our invitees are French-speaking, so it made sense.

  2. Hey! Thanks for visiting my blog...and um...I have no idea what to tell you about the cake...'cuz once I saw that amazing Lego cake creation, I was so awestruck, that well...I'm speechless!

Oh, and heck yes! We all compare our kids...but shhhhh...don't tell them that! ;)

  3. How about the cake that he wants, plus a chocolate fountain with berries, marshmallows to coat with chocolate. Reid went to a party with a chocolate fountain and the kids were gobbling fruit like it was candy. I guess after the chocolate coating it was. ;+) Put out a call on Twitter to borrow the fountain. It's the sort of thing that you'd want to share if you owned one, to justify the storing of it.

    Have fun with the party.

  4. Just got to ready your posts after being gone for several days. Simon is turning 3!!! He'll have a GREAT birthday! OK...I'm old...but here is a lesson I learned the hard way...after staying up til the wee hours of the morning making one of the birthday cakes. Make the cake simple (give him the chocolate cake and lots of strawberries...he's not allergic to them??) and decide to dedicate the time you would have spent on an elaborate cake doing something special just with him. I can guarantee you that he'll love that even more. Sounds like a fun party. He might enjoy "helping" you set things up for the party...though he is still pretty young.

  7. It has been a while since I've read french, but it's funny that I had no trouble understanding a bit of it!

As for a chocolate cake, you could make it into a castle, or maybe a jousting field! Ooh, that would be fun! With tufts of grass, stands holding many a playmobile character, and two playmobile jousters (??) on horses! I also like the chocolate fountain idea... fruits on plastic mini swords (hee hee)... man, I've got too many ideas now. Can I come?
