Sunday afternoon drive and lens lust

For the newborn portrait session I had scheduled for this last Saturday, I'd planned to go to the clients' house to make it easier for their family... a family that included a six year old, and almost-two-year-old twins boys in addition to the newborn. CAN YOU SAY BUSY? So the plan was for me to photo them in their home, but having never been there and not knowing what the lighting was like, I wanted to be prepared with a faster lens in case there wasn't sufficient light for my lens.

One of the great things about Vistek (where I rent from) is that if you pick up your rental equipment after 3pm on Friday, you get to keep it for the entire weekend (until Monday at 11:30am), but only pay for one day. Awesome, right? It also means that I get to play with it Friday night, Saturday night, all day Sunday and most of Monday.

And play I did.

Here are a few pictures I snapped in the van on the way home from church Sunday afternoon.

Simon was SO PROUD of this crown he'd made

Hey, wait a minute! Is that... is that A SMILE?!?

Although I still think these mosaics are fun, it bothers me a bit how blurry the pictures look. Believe me that they are TACK SHARP in their original form. The lens I rented was the Nikon AF-S 50mm f/1.4 Nikkor Lens... and I am in deep, deep lust over it. (le sigh)

It's so dreamy.

And JUST WAIT til you see the images from the session on the weekend! (coming soon)

  1. Great Pics! They come through looking really clear on this computer at least. Hey, random and yet very personal question...I was reading your "about me" and it still says that you can't eat chocolate. HOW DO YOU DO IT?!!?!?!? Honestly, chocolate is my best friend!

  3. The pictures are adorable, Amy!!!!! They are not fuzzy at all--very clear on our computer. You and Peter have 3 boys that do not look alike at all, but are as cute as can be!!!! A question for you. What kind of cooking oil do you use and what do you know about Canola oil? Hugs, A. Dianne
